Resisting Chain Stores and Corporate Control

Anti 7-Eleven Sentiments Grow While Chain is Investigated for Human Trafficking

7-Eleven Protests in NYCResidents of the East Village continue to express their anger over the 7-Eleven scheduled to open on the corner of 11th Street and Avenue A in September. Anti 7-Eleven messages are being left on the plywood shed surrounding the store front as well as a wooden structure protecting a tree at the site.

“7-Eleven you’re no good. We don’t need you in our hood!” are among the messages left for the Texas-based chain which is currently being investigated by federal authorities for human trafficking.

“These are not the kind of companies or activities we want in our neighborhood,” said a neighborhood resident visiting the tree. “I hope they rethink their plans for this location.”
